POSITION TITLE: Technical Source Compliance Apprentice
LOCATION: Kent
REPORTS TO: Ethical Trade Manager
ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting new role within our Retail business for a Technical Source Compliance Apprentice. The role will be based within our retail division in Kent, supporting the local team and our overseas source team.
The role will encompass aspects of due diligence, sustainability, health & safety and office management.
This role will provide an opportunity to study towards an L4 apprenticeship: Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner (Level 4)
PRIORITY PROJECTS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Source Technical Administration
- Collect technical documentation, including raw material specifications, packaging details and supplier information
- Maintain and review supplier due diligence, including maintaining documentation and ensuring compliance with regulations and / or customer requirements
- Oversee the testing schedule for pesticides, microbiology and other quality parameters
- Uploading documents onto online platforms as and when required
- Providing support to the source team
- Maintaining supplier relationships on Sedex / SIZA platforms ensuring visibility of our supply chain to our final customers
- Supporting the smooth running of our due diligence program
Health & Safety
- Manage health and safety polices, including conducting regular risk assessments
- Implement emergency procedures and ensure employees are trained accordingly
- Replenish First Aid supplies as and when required
- Carry out VDU assessments
OTHER POTENTIAL PROJECTS
- Coordinating completion and submission of Living wage data
- Product Benchmarking and store visits
EXPERIENCE / ABOUT YOU
- Food / fresh produce experience preferred
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication to liaise with colleagues, suppliers, growers and vendors
- A resourceful mindset to handle unexpected challenges and find practical solutions
- Attention to detail in handling administrative tasks, from scheduling to record-keeping
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages
- Flexible approach to managing shifting priorities
- A self-starter who takes initiative without needing constant direction
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to foster good relationships among employees and suppliers alike
- Consistency and dependability in fulfilling responsibilities
- Maintaining confidentiality and representing the business in a professional manner
- A team player who can readily collaborate with other departments whilst being a support for the team and contributing to a positive work environment
- Confidence in making informed decisions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Work based qualifications in food safety and legality and/or Health and Safety
- 2 years further education post GCSEs
